Hardgainer Problem with a Simple Solution
If you have spent countless hours lifting weights, only to see no noticeable improvement in body weight and muscle mass, you may be a hardgainer. This person is usually a skinny person who has felt cursed for life because they can eat whatever they want and not gain weight. When the desire to build prominent muscles enters the picture, frustration sets in because they cannot gain weight or muscle bulk. This frustration can be eliminated with a simple understanding of what your body needs in order to begin to bulk up. You will have to adjust your nutritional intake and start hardgainer workout routines.
The normal food intake for bodybuilders consists of about forty percent carbohydrates and proteins, and the remaining twenty percent as fat. Normally, this gives bodybuilders enough protein to build the muscles and fat and carbohydrates to burn their energy. For someone who is following hardgainer workout routines, the carbohydrates should be about fifty percent of the intake. The other categories should be at twenty-five percent. The protein intake is reduced because the hardgainer is a caloric furnace. The point is to increase calories. The fitness schedule will be different as well.
The hardgainer workout routines are quite a bit different from typical bodybuilders. The cardiovascular training is reduced to a light walk of about twenty minutes. The weight lifting is no more than three, one-hour sessions per week. This gives just enough of a work out to pump the muscles up and get out of the gym. Working out too much will burn too many calories for the hardgainer to sustain, even with the modified diet. Sparse workouts actually are better for those with this issue, than trying to move into the gym to lift weights in their sleep.
With proper hardgainer workout routines and a modified diet that reflects the caloric needs of the individual, the muscle mass will begin to build. Fortunately, because hardgainers cannot keep much fat, the muscles that do bulk up will show immediately. The lower fat percentage of the body allows the muscles to be displayed prominently with very little effort. Very soon, those who do not have this problem will wish they did.
