Those who are looking to bulk up with muscles sometimes have a hard time in gaining weight. They know it is important that each extra pound maximizes gains in muscle while minimizes the gains in fat. It’s not possible to totally eliminate fat gain during the bulk up phase, but it’s still important to minimize fat gain as much as possible. This is why it is important to learn how to gain weight before more sweat and effort is wasted at the gym. At the same time, each person looking to gain weight needs to make sure that they are doing their workouts properly and getting enough rest every week. If the body is too drained from over-training, there will be no weight gain.

The first thing to note is that nutrition drives everything when it comes to how to gain weight. A person who wants to gain muscle will need to make sure both protein and carbohydrate intake from diet is kept high. At the same time, dietary fat should be minimized as much as possible. This means that foods like lean meat, protein powders, and oatmeal are all great choices that provide either protein or carbohydrates while introducing as little fat as possible. Also, make sure that there are sufficient calories being eaten every day. This means it is important to count all calories for a single day.

The next thing to pay attention to when learning how to gain weight is the workout. Make sure that all of the major weight training exercises are being done every few days which include the squat (the most important), shoulder press, deadlift and bench press. Next, make sure that there isn’t over-training by making sure each workout does not exceed one hour. This time limit also includes any cardio which may be contributing to over-training while not helping weight gain. Thirdly, it is important to make sure that there is enough speed in order to give time to the body to recuperate and build muscle.

The combination of nutrition and the weight training workouts is essential in order to properly learn how to gain weight and bulk up. Without doing both properly, it will be very difficult for athletes to get past that plateau.
